The Story Behind Centers For Mobility
It is said everybody has a book to write about their lives. Our family would like to share their personal story with our patients. The story begins in the 1960's when our parents, Don and Nelda, met at a local Houston high school at the age of 15. It was truly a relationship they both knew would last for a long time. Even in high school both dedicated themselves to helping each other with their weaknesses. Nelda spent time teaching Don Spanish and Don helped Nelda with art. Together they made it through and both headed off to the University of Houston. Nelda with a deep desire to help those with special needs received her degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. Don decided to dedicate his life to those with foot and ankle disorders and became a foot doctor, "podiatrist". In 1978 he established his private practice with Nelda at his side. This is the same year our parents were blessed with their first child, Jason. Their second blessing, Jessica was born in 1982. Both of us have seen our parents working endlessly in helping patients whether in their private practice or missionary work. Our parents are extremely proud both of us decided to pursue degrees in prosthetics and orthotics. We now know what they have experienced all of these years; the special feeling of helping those in need.
At this point in our family lives, we decided the next natural progression was to establish a prosthetic and orthotic company. The birth of "Centers for Mobility" was in 2005. Today, our company continues to grow due to a lot of hard work, compassion for our patients, and respect and love for each other. CFM started with a family of four and has blossomed into a larger family of technicians, prosthetists and orthotists.
Today our story is still being written. Our family invites you to experience our care and compassion. If you are in need of a prosthesis, brace, mastectomy product or just need to talk about your situation, call us. We do care!
Sincerely,
